Musical genius Daddy Showkey has opened up about how he first stumbled upon his musical talent while working in a motor park.
During a recent chat on ‘The Honest Bunch’ podcast, the iconic Nigerian singer shared that it was while he was working as a ticketer in the motor park that someone recognized his incredible voice and encouraged him to pursue a career in music.
According to him, he was Initially hesitant due to his lack of singing experience, but eventually gave it a shot and was met with overwhelming positive feedback from his audience.
In his words:
“I was working in the motor park as a ticketer when someone told me I have a good voice and that I should consider becoming a musician.
“At first, I was sceptical because I didn’t know how to sing but when I attempted it, I discovered that everyone liked it so that was how I became a musician.”
When discussing the ongoing debate surrounding young artists failing to acknowledge the contributions of music veterans to their success, Daddy Showkey stated that he is not seeking validation or recognition for his role in paving the way for the next generation of artists.
He firmly believes that it is up to the younger artists who have benefitted from the legacy of music legends like himself to acknowledge and appreciate the impact they have had on their careers.
