The news of Chioma Okoli’s alleged miscarriage due to the stress induced by her legal battle with Erisco Foods, a tomato paste manufacturing company, has sparked outrage on social media.
The saga commenced when Chioma Okoli took to Facebook in 2023 to express her dissatisfaction with Erisco Foods’ product, claiming that the tomato paste she had purchased was laden with sugar.
This criticism quickly turned into a legal fight when Eric Umeofia, the CEO of Erisco Foods, accused Okoli of being part of a plan by his business rivals to harm the company’s reputation.
Subsequently, Okoli found herself embroiled in a lengthy legal battle. Erisco Foods accused her of conspiring and cyberstalking, and she had to face those charges.
Despite Chioma Okoli insisting she was innocent and her complaints were genuine, her troubles continued, leading to a distressing outcome in the end.
During the latest court hearing, Okoli’s lawyer shared the sad news that she had sadly suffered a miscarriage, attributing it to the immense stress and anxiety inflicted by the ongoing court case.
Despite the revelation of her miscarriage, the court decided to keep Okoli in jail until they resolved her bail situation, further infuriating and upsetting people.

@FakhuusHashim said; “Her ordeal breaks my heart. She doesn’t deserve this, her family doesn’t deserve the trauma,pain that is forced upon them. Her plight is indicative of how powerless we are as Nigerians. That not one person in power has interceded on her behalf when police & courts have failed her.”
@seunosewa asked; “Miscarriage?? 😞.”
@KingTaiwo_ said; “This is a sad news.”
But people who keep selling the ‘she did nothing wrong narrative’ are making this worse, some even went as far as sponsoring posts by Shadrerooom and I think CNN to paint the picture that she did a critical reveiw of a product then was jailed.

I am unable to comprehend the blatant injustice that Chioma Okoli is suffering. That she is still going through this hell strips me of every bit of hope for Nigeria. She did nothing wrong yet she is being abused by the state to the extent she has had a miscarriage.
