Manage one artist, Wizkid or Davido? – Kim Oprah asks Don Jazzy’s dad, he responds (VIDEO)

In the dynamic arena of Afrobeats, the WizKid versus Davido comparison reigns supreme—an epic clash of titans where selecting a favorite is as tricky as solving a Rubik's Cube blindfolded. Yet, for Don Jazzy's dad, the decision was a breeze, a piece of cake! He wasted no time, swiftly declaring his preference without any ambiguity. And with the recent tempests stirring up the music industry, his rationale for favoring one over the other is as glaring as the midday sun, an undeniable truth that needs no explanation.

Collins Enebeli Ajereh, the father of acclaimed Nigerian record producer and music executive Michael Collins Ajereh, famously known as Don Jazzy, stirred up reactions with his response to a question about Afrobeats titans Davido and Wizkid.

During an electrifying Q&A session with the effervescent BBNaija star and Trending host on Hip TV, Kim Oprah, the Mavin Grandpa as he is fondly called, found himself in the hot seat.

With the spotlight squarely on him, he was posed with a tantalizing question: if given the ultimate choice, who would he opt to manage between OBO and Starboy Crooner?.

Without skipping a beat, Don Jazzy’s father swiftly declared his allegiance to Davido, a choice that didn’t come as a surprise, especially in the wake of Wizkid’s recent disrespectful remarks directed at his son.

When queried about his musical preference between Afrobeats and Amapiano, Mr. Collins confidently declared his affinity for Afrobeat, emphasizing the singular form.

However, when pressed to name a specific artist he would have chosen to retain after their departure from his son’s record label, Mabins, he found himself in a poignant dilemma. His profound attachment and admiration for every artist under the label made it impossible for him to single out just one.

On Wizkid’s disrespectful remarks about Don Jazzy, the music star, in the early morning of April 29, 2024, took to his X account to engage his fans and his attention was drawn to a post where Ladipoe said Afrobeats is going through its “Afrobeats is dead” phase after Hip Hop survived the “Hip hop is dead” narrative which Wizkid contributed to.

Wizkid replied that he’s never chatting to any artist signed by an influencer in a statement that attempted to mock Mavin Record’s label boss Don Jazzy as an influencer.
