I have not received my son’s royalties – Late Dagrin’s mum complains to Kogbagidi, Baba Egbe in viral video

Dagrin, the late rap virtuoso, was a trailblazing phenomenon who catapulted from the depths of the slums to the pinnacle of stardom, leaving an enduring legacy with his iconic hits that continue to mint money 14 years after his premature demise - talk about a legend! His tragic exit left his mother shattered, and she's still grappling with the anguish, as evident in her recent heart-wrenching account, where she exposed the egregious truth that she's yet to receive a single cent from her son's royalties. This has galvanized Baba Egbe and Kogbagidi into a fierce determination to champion her cause and fight for her rightful dues, come hell or high water!

Mrs. Falilat Olaonipekun, the resilient mother of the late Nigerian music sensation and rap prodigy, Oladapo Olaitan Olanipekun, famously known as DaGrin, recently lamented the unjust withholding of her son’s hard-earned royalties by his management team.

Media personality Baba Egbe and music promoter Kogbagidi recently orchestrated a meeting with Dagrin’s mother and her associates, convening to delve into discussions concerning her general welfare and the complex issue of her late son’s royalties.

In response to inquiries regarding the update on Dagrin’s royalties and whether she has received any, she replied negatively, indicating that she hasn’t been granted her late son’s music royalties.

Expounding on the matter, she recounted her recent conversation with his management, where she was informed that they are awaiting payment from a revenue source, and are holding off on transferring the funds until the transaction is completed.

Dagrin’s mother, in the video, brought out the paperwork provided to her by the management team, holding it aloft as a tangible reminder of the promise made but not yet honored.

Within its pages lay the explicit commitment of a specific amount yet to be disbursed. Recounting the assurances given, she expressed her anticipation for the response promised by the management.

She recounted that her last interaction with them dated back to December 2023, lamenting the silence that had since ensued. Baba Egbe assured her of his commitment to the cause, pledging to enlist the services of a seasoned music lawyer to champion her case against the management team.

Amidst the discussions, the topic veered towards her stalled house project, with Baba Egbe and Kogbagidi expressing a keen interest in its progress.

Plans to involve Dagrin’s father in the meeting were discussed, though regretfully, unforeseen circumstances prevented him from attending.
