Renowned singer Joseph Akinfenwaa Donus, also known as Joeboy, has shared the inspiration behind his hit single ‘Better‘.
In a recent interview with media personality Vivz, Joeboy revealed that he wrote the song to raise awareness about domestic violence against women.
He expressed his concern about the prevalence of domestic abuse in African society, where women often face mistreatment.
Praising the song, the host said: “‘Better’ is my favourite song ever. In that song, it’s like you’re speaking up for a woman that has been treated badly by another man.”
Joeboy said: “It’s something that happens a lot in African society; domestic abuse. Sometimes women are maltreated and not treated properly. I wanted to shed light on domestic violence against women.”
In another news, Joeboy knocks FG for prioritising National Anthem change over tackling hardship
President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday, May 29, signed the National Anthem Bill 2024, into law to reinstate the old anthem, “Nigeria, We Hail Thee.”
Reacting, Joeboy wondered why a change of the National Anthem was prioritised over pressing national issues.
“Of all the problems Nigerians have to deal with, changing the national anthem is priority? Okay naw” he wrote on X.
Away from political matters, in February, Joeboy parted ways with Empawa Music, a label owned by Mr Eazi.
The singer the signed a dual deal with global music giant, Warner Music, and launched his record label called “Young Legend”.
He also adjusted his profile names on social media to reflect the new label.
This move sees Joeboy exit Empawa after 5 successful years where he released 2 EPs (Love & Light and Body, Soul & Spirit), 2 albums (Somewhere Between Beauty & Magic and Body & Soul) and a plethora of hit singles & features amassing over 2 Billion streams across major DSPs.
