Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has gifted N10 million to the overall best graduating student at the 27th convocation ceremony of Lagos State University (LASU).
The ceremony took place on Thursday at LASU’s Ojo Campus, where over 11,000 students were conferred with various degrees.
The announcement was made public by Jubril Gawat, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on New Media, through a post on X.
Gawat noted that Governor Sanwo-Olu arrived at the university at 12:38 pm to participate in the grand finale of the convocation.
“UPDATE: Governor of Lagos State and visitor, Mr @jidesanwoolu’s arrival at the Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo Campus for the Grand Finale of the 27th convocation ceremony. Convocation for the award of Diplomas, First Degrees & Prizes, Postgraduate Diplomas, Higher Degrees & Conferment of Rank Distinguished Professor, Rank of Emeritus Professor and Honorary Doctorate Degrees,” Gawat wrote.
During the ceremony, Governor Sanwo-Olu presented the N10 million gift to Olaniyi Mubaraq Olawale, the overall best graduating student, who achieved an impressive CGPA of 4.98 in Accounting Education.
In addition to the monetary award, Governor Sanwo-Olu revealed plans to construct an 8,200-bed hostel at the university.
