Why I don’t believe in having a girlfriend – Layi Wasabi

Layi Wasabi speaks on his ideal partner

Nigerian skit maker, content creator and movie actor, Isaac Olayiwola, popularly known as Layi Wasabi, has revealed why he doesn’t believe in the concept of “girlfriend.”

Appearing on the recent episode of ‘Is This Seat Taken?’ podcast hosted by actress Chinasa Anukam, the 10th Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards Best Online Content Creator winner explained that he prefers “partnership” to the word “girlfriend.”

The Anikulapo actor said he starts with courtship because he needs to see the person has wifely attributes from the onset.

Layi Wasabi said:

“I don’t believe in the concept of a girlfriend. I believe in partnership. I don’t believe in that phase of girlfriends. I start with courtship. I have to see the wife in the person from the beginning.”

The host, Chinasa, inferred, “That speaks a level of focus. That’s fine.”

Wasabi also disclosed that he has only been on dates four times.

The skit maker said his ideal partner is a tall woman, emphasising that height is the first thing he notices in women.

In April, the budding Nigerian skit-maker said that unlike his colleagues, he does not see the need to use nudity to promote his skits.

According to Layi, the nature of his comedy and his target audience does not necessitate the usage of any form of sexual content to get viewership.

The online comedian stated this in an interview with BBC Pidgin, where he also shared the genesis of his journey into content creation.

He explained that he started it in Osogbo, Osun state before moving to Lagos to expand his reach and enhance his career prospects.
