Mr Ibu’s family ask public for financial assistance to bury late actor

The family and friends of the late John Okafor, also known as Mr Ibu, have established a GoFundMe page to assist with the costs of his funeral.

Last month, the actor’s family had announced that a five-day funeral ceremony will be held for him and he will be buried on June 28, 2024. The funeral service will include a novelty match, a candlelight procession, and a wake keeping.

In an update to it, the central planning committee made up of his family and friends appealed to the public for donations to ensure a successful burial for him.

A statement jointly signed by the Chairman, Central Planning Committee, Monday Diamond; Secretary, Central Planning Committee, Christy Ejiofor; and the President, Actors Guild of Nigeria, Emeka Rollas; stated that the ailment which led to the actor’s death consumed millions of Naira, which was why they are asking for financial assistance.

As such, the family has launched a GoFundMe page to help cover the funeral costs of the actor.

Mr Ibu passed away at Evercare Hospital in Lagos, after a long battle with an illness that required multiple surgeries, including leg amputation.
