- In a bold move, he singled out Pastor Adeboye, questioning his stance on President Tinubu’s governance and unapologetically labeling the revered RCCG pastor a hypocrite
Veteran Nigerian musician Eedris Abdulkareem has stirred controversy with his blistering critique aimed squarely at the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor E.A. Adeboye, amidst the nation’s deepening economic hardship, in his new song, ‘Emi Lokan’.
In a viral video that has set tongues wagging across social media platforms, the outspoken hip-hop singer and rapper didn’t mince words as he dared Pastor Adeboye to display the same vocal courage against President Bola Tinubu’s government as he did towards previous administrations.
Abdulkareem vehemently reminded the public of Pastor Adeboye’s bold stance during the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan administration, when he organized a one million man march to protest the state of the nation.
In his scathing lyrics, the singer emphasized the urgency of speaking truth to power, directly labeling Adeboye’s purported silence on the current administration as blatant hypocrisy.
“Our Daddy, Pastor Adeboye, during Goodluck Jonathan, your voice was so loud. You even vow to stage one million match. Hunger and hardship under Tinubu government you ‘say’ Nigeria get spiritual problem. Baba we need your one million disciples to protest against President Tinubu govt just the way you protest against President Jonathan.
“Daddy abi leg don dey pain your disciples? Dis na very big hypocricy. It is time for you to speak to truth to power because hunger wan kill Nigerians,” Eedris Abdulkareem mentioned in the video clip.
The release of the video has ignited a fierce debate on social media, with a significant faction urging religious leaders to actively engage in political discourse and take decisive stands on critical national issues.
Conversely, there has been backlash against the artiste, criticizing him for audaciously targeting Pastor Adeboye in his song.
