‘Why I don’t believe in monogamy’ – Kanayo O Kanayo

Kanayo O Kanayo reveals why monogamy doesn't have a place in his belief

Veteran Nollywood actor Kanayo O. Kanayo has sparked a conversation by sharing his views on monogamy

In a recent episode of “The Honest Bunch” podcast, Kanayo declared that he doesn’t subscribe to the idea of monogamy, citing its cultural incompatibility with African heritage.

Kanayo’s preference for polygamy is rooted in his belief that monogamy is a foreign concept imposed upon African societies.

Kanayo also disclosed that the concept of divorce was unfamiliar to him until he relocated to Lagos from the South East.

He noted that, in Igbo culture, divorce is viewed as a last resort, and that men would rather persevere in their marriage than opt for separation.

I don’t believe in one wife. It is not our culture. It is not our tradition. It is not who we are. These are imported things.

“I never knew anything about divorce until we came to Lagos. The Igbo man prefers to die in the marriage than divorcing,” he said.

In another news, Kanayo O Kanayo collects son’s 1st salary, notifying him that his salary isn’t for his pastor.

This impactful moment followed Kanayo’s recent introduction of Clinton into the Nollywood scene as a filmmaker, where he firmly instructed fellow crew members to treat his son just like everyone else.

In an exciting development, KOK, via his Facebook page, recently shared with fans the heartwarming news of his son earning his first paycheck as a young man.

The actor expressed his desire to mark this special milestone by ceremoniously bestowing his Father’s Blessings upon his son.

His words;

“I want to observe a culture from our ancestors which has led to the progress of many people you’re seeing today, father’s blessing. Clinton Onyeze, my son, has just concluded a film production management with us and he has earned his first salary, N50,000 for the movie”

Expanding on his thoughts, Kanayo O. Kanayo elaborated that within Igbo culture, it is customary for a young man to present his first earnings to his father, allowing for a heartfelt prayer and invaluable lessons in financial stewardship.
