CHIVIDO 2024: ‘I’d have been among Davido’s groomsmen if not for Zlatan’ – Portable

Portable Opens Up About Davido's Wedding and Past Friendship

Singer Habeeb Okikiola, also known as Portable, recently shared his experience being invited to Davido’s wedding.

During an Instagram live session, Portable revealed that he would have been part of the groomsmen if his friendship with Davido hadn’t been affected by a misunderstanding involving rapper Zlatan Ibile.

Portable stated:

“I was invited for Davido’s wedding. If Zlatan Ibile hadn’t ruined my friendship with Davido, I’d have been among the groomsmen.”

This revelation comes after Davido and Chioma’s high-profile wedding, which brought together notable figures from various fields, including governors, celebrities, and traditional leaders.

The wedding guest list included Governors Ademola Adeleke, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Alex Otti, and Godwin Obaseki, as well as former President Olusegun Obasanjo and the Ooni of Ife, HRH Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi. Celebrities in attendance included Zlatan Ibile, Ini Edo, Paul Okoye, Patoranking, Cubana Chief Priest, B-Red, and many others.

Portable’s statement sheds light on his past friendship with Davido, which reportedly ended after a disagreement during their dinner in the United States.

Portable had accused Davido of giving him “bad advice,” leading to a rift between the two artists.

According to him, Davido, who is signed to Sony Music, advised him about signing with Empire, and following the footsteps of ace rapper Olamide, instead of joining Sony Music like himself.

Portable didn’t hold back, alleging foul play and questioning Davido’s intentions. He pointed out that, like Davido, he is aiming for a Grammy, yet the DMW boss is pushing him towards a label that might not enhance his chances of winning the prestigious award. This, Portable insinuates, is a deliberate attempt to undermine his career ambitions.

In his tirade, the Zazuu Zeh star made it clear that he values the support of genuine helpers like Skepta and Olamide, who not only gave him gifts but also connected him with global fashion brands.
