The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has dismissed circulating reports claiming the arrest of Nigerian social media influencer Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as Verydarkman (VDM).
Earlier on Sunday, rumors surfaced alleging that the outspoken social critic had been arrested by Nigerian Police for allegedly exposing criminal activities.
In response to inquiries from DAILY POST, SP Josephine Adeh, the Police Public Relations Officer of the FCT Command, clarified the situation, stating that Verydarkman was not arrested but rather invited for questioning.
According to Adeh, the questioning centered around allegations involving cyberstalking, cyberbullying, and defamation of character.
Adeh further explained that Verydarkman was promptly released after providing a statement addressing the allegations brought against him by an individual.
In related news, Social media influencer, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as Very Dark Man has been rearrested by the Nigerian police.
His lawyer, Mr Deji Adeyanju on Sunday, June 30 disclosed that his client has again been arrested, adding that Very Dark Man was apprehended for exposing someone who allegedly duped a Nigerian abroad.
In a post on his official account on the microblogging platform, X,Deji Adeyanju wrote:
“Our client, @thatverydarkman has just been arrested by the police on the instruction of CP Igwe for exposing someone who allegedly duped a Nigerian abroad.
“Instead of the police to arrest the person alleged to have duped someone, they arrested VDM on allegation of defamation.
