Iyabo Ojo slams Seun Kuti, vows to jail Verydarkman over Mohbad’s N65M claim

Iyabo Ojo Responds to Seun Kuti's Support for Verydarkman Amidst Defamation Allegations

Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has responded to Afrobeat singer Seun Kuti’s public support for Verydarkman, a social media activist recently re-arrested for alleged defamation.

Iyabo Ojo addressed Seun Kuti, explaining her reasons for pursuing a case against Verydarkman.

According to Iyabo Ojo, Verydarkman accused her and others of taking N65M from people to pursue justice for the late Mohbad Aloba, a claim she vehemently denied.

She clarified that she would not have pursued the case if Verydarkman had not made explicit accusations against her.

Iyabo Ojo revealed that she spent her own money to lawyer up during Mohbad’s case, contrary to Verydarkman’s claims.

She also shared that her husband, Paulo Okoye, advised her to drop the case, but Verydarkman targeted him after Davido’s wedding.

She vowed to see the case through to ensure that justice is served.

Recall that Seun Kuti publicly showed support for VeryDarkMan, declaring him as a necessity.

Kuti’s comments came in response to music executive, Paulo’s request for him and others to distance themselves from VDM.

According to Seun Kuti, Verydarkman serves a necessary purpose, particularly in holding corrupt politicians and their enablers accountable.

He believes VDM has the ability to mobilize people against these individuals, which himself cannot do.

In a video shared on his Instagram, Seun Kuti emphasized that while he values his relationship with Paulo, he cannot be publicly ordered around.

He also stressed the importance of earning respect, stating, “Elders must earn respect.”

He said:

“I have a good relationship with Paulo but that doesn’t give him the right to order me publicly. Even if Paulo has helped me, he can’t order me publicly. If he had called me on the phone, I would probably have cut ties with VDM by now. Because I don’t know how much the beef is worth to him,”

“So that’s what I see in the relationship that we all have with ourselves in Nigeria. VDM for me is a necessity. VeryDarkMan is a necessity. Because he can do the personal. But I don’t know how to. VeryDarkMan can bring the people against the agents of corrupt politicians. Those people with the spirits of the politicians. Those politicians enablers who use their fame to bully the powerless.”
