Nigerian singer and Grammy Award winner, Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, known as Burna Boy, has weighed in on the furore spurred by the ongoing legal battle between Davido and his first baby mama, Sophia Momodu, over their child custody.
Matters came to a head when a social media user admonished Burna Boy to get married, alluding to Davido’s recent wedding to his longtime girlfriend, Chioma, and his custody dispute with Sophia. This prompted Burna Boy to respond with a series of comments.
Recall that Davido and Chioma recently tied the nuptial knot in a lavish and grand ceremony in Lagos.
However, days later, Davido found himself enmeshed in a squabble with Sophia Momodu, who referenced the tragic death of Davido’s son Ifeanyi in her counter-lawsuit.
Davido took to his social media to voice his agony and sadness saying: “Your constantly bringing up the death of my child at any point u can to just remind us of this tragedy that haunts us every day of our lives… Imade will grow up to see I fought for her… as for now u can have her… P.S she won’t be a child forever… enjoy ❤️ Imade Aurora Adeleke! Your father loves you!”
The conversation escalated when another user, @BadLieutenant, suggested that Burna Boy should follow Davido’s example and settle down. “Burna Boy, you should start planning for your future by getting married and starting a family. OBO has already set an example. You’re over 33 now, and you need to understand that you’re not getting any younger,” the user commented.
But, Burna Boy replied, “Baba make I just dey as I dey abeg, u nor see wetin him dey face like dis?”
The exchange went on with another user criticising Burna Boy’s response. “You can’t even answer a question like a reasonable person. LOL. Just big head and plenty beards,” they wrote. Burna Boy retorted, “Ok. But between me and you, Shey na betta example the guy use?”
When asked if he considered Adekunle Gold a better role model, Burna Boy agreed, stating, “Ehen! Na wetin we dey pray for be that bros,” expressing his admiration for the relationship between Adekunle Gold and his singer wife, Simi
