He is not one of us – Kanayo tackles report of Colleague killed by police during clash with kidnappers(VIDEO)

Kanayo O. Kanayo, one of the living movie veterans of our time, was hit with a bombshell when he heard about an alleged colleague's fatal run-in with the law. With a voice that dripped with raw emotion, he set the record straight - the deceased was no saint, and definitely not part of the Nollywood family! In defending the sanctity of industry's legacy, Kanayo illuminates the profound intersection of artistry and ethics, urged everyone to confront uncomfortable misconceptions that surface when reputation and reality collide. And with that, he bursted open the floodgates of truth, swept away the hypocrisy and deceit - preached authenticity and integrity with his unwavering conviction!

In a bold move representing Nollywood’s integrity, veteran actor and lawyer Kanayo O. Kanayo has publicly denounced the industry’s affiliation with an actor, Ason Rich, recently slain in Lagos under disturbing allegations of orchestrating kidnappings among Ladipo’s elite.

Taking to Instagram, Kanayo, in the new video, wielded his influence like a sword, cautioning bloggers against recklessly branding individuals as ‘actors and producers.’

Introducing himself, the actor stated,

“My name is Kanayo O Kanayo, a Nollywood actor and a lawyer. And why I made this introduction is because I’m one of the protectors of the Nigerian entertainment industry in word and in deed.”

He continued, revealing his concerns about the reports. “I just read this breaking news: ‘Nollywood actor amongst nine alleged millionaire kidnappers killed by Police in Lagos.’ And I begin to ask, who is a Nollywood actor, who is a Nollywood producer?”

Kanayo passionately highlighted numerous instances of individuals brazenly claiming association with Nollywood without any merit or credibility.

Is it somebody who calls himself a producer, assembling some girls or boys conducting an audition taking money from those that need to be auditioned that makes him a producer?” he questioned.

“An actor is now somebody who leaves his trade, finds Nollywood a fertile ground to foist his activities?”

The thespian vehemently stressed the imperative for the media to accurately distinguish genuine actors and producers from pretenders.

“We must begin to identify who is an actor and a producer,” he asserted.

The Lagos Police Command had, on Thursday 4th, July, killed nine of the kidnappers while two escaped with gunshot injuries owing to an intelligence report.

The command’s Special Squad One Team achieved the feat when it engaged the men around the Ajao, Okota, Isolo, and Ladipo axis of the state.

The command spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, in a statement, said the dangerous gang of kidnappers were planning to kidnap some high net-worth individuals in Lagos before the police swung into action.

Nollywood actor, Stanley Nwoke Ontop, in a post on his Instagram page, said that Ason is a famous Nollywood producer in Asaba while urging the leadership of the Actors Guild of Nigeria to engage in proper background checks for its members.
