Burna Boy kicked us out of our dressing room at German festival – Grammy award-winning Reggae band vents

Reggae music is the thunderous heartbeat of a people, a defiant rhythm that refuses to be muted! Bob Marley, the iconic reggae warrior, shattered musical shackles to become a global beacon of unity and peace. Through his incendiary lyrics and soul-stirring melodies, Marley unleashed a message of unconditional love and solidarity, setting ablaze a fire of hope in the hearts of millions. He believed music was the ultimate game-changer, capable of leveling walls, healing wounds, and uniting people across the chasms of race, class, and politics. And that's precisely what the Grammy-winning Reggae band, Steel Pulse, meant when they went nuclear on Burna Boy for his alleged disrespect at the reggae festival - they were defending the sacred flame of reggae, which Marley ignited, and which refuses to be extinguished It's a matter of keeping the spirit of unity burning hotter than a wildfire!

David ‘Electric’ Hinds, the dynamic lead singer and guitarist of Steel Pulse, has unleashed a fiery diatribe against Burna Boy, accusing the Nigerian sensation of flagrant disrespect towards the Grammy-winning reggae legends at the 2024 Summer Jam Festival in Germany.

The festival, which ran from July 5 to 7, was a gathering of musical titans, featuring headliners like Burna Boy alongside Jamaican powerhouses such as Skillibeng, Konshens, Busy Signal, Lila Ike, Beenie Man, and Ky-Mani Marley.

In a scathing comment beneath an Instagram post about the festival, David ‘Electric’ Hinds, the frontman of Steel Pulse, didn’t hold back as he blasted Burna Boy for his audacious conduct.

Hinds detailed how the Nigerian Afrofusion star allegedly swaggered into the event with a colossal entourage, demanding extra dressing rooms to house his inflated team.

This brazen demand, Hinds claimed, was an attempt to forcibly eject him and his fellow Steel Pulse members from their rightful space.

Hinds passionately argued that such egregious behavior stands in stark contrast to the very essence of reggae culture, which is rooted in peace, love, and unity.

He painted a vivid picture of Burna Boy’s actions as the epitome of arrogance and disrespect, starkly at odds with the harmonious spirit that reggae embodies.

Hinds’ condemnation didn’t stop at Burna Boy; he also unleashed his fury on the festival organizers, accusing them of cowardice and negligence for allowing his band to be “bullied” by Burna Boy’s aggressive security team.

Burna Boy and security crew fully disrespected us at Steel Pulse, trying to kick us out of our dressing room so he could have 4 dressing rooms for his massive entourage,” he wrote.

Selwyn Brown, original member of Steel Pulse, was livid and our team stood our ground and told them to beat it and you can’t do that to people, especially to a band that has paved the way for Reggae music.

“Summer Jam why do you have a full security team that think they can come in and bully people? Who the hell does Burna Boy think he is?

“And because of us refusing to leave, the security team proceeded to build a barricade of a blacked out chain linked fence that split the hallway between our dressing room and his dressing room making it feel like we were in prison or something

” I hope that these legendary reggae festivals realize that this can’t be apart of the reggae culture. That’s Babylon business. We don’t treat people like that.

“Please recognise this because Steel Pulse was fully disrespected. Reggae promotes Peace, Love, Unity.. stand up for your rights, we must never give up the fight.”

As of the time of this report, neither Burna Boy nor the organisers of the Summer Jam Festival have responded to the allegations.
