Up and coming Hip Hop artiste Candy Bleakz has voiced her concerns over the lack of support among female artistes in the Nigerian entertainment industry.
Appearing on the latest episode of The Honest Bunch podcast, the “Dragon Anthem” singer accused top female artistes of failing to uplift their emerging colleagues.
Candy Bleakz refrained from naming specific individuals but pointed out that no established female artiste in Nigeria can claim to have helped another female artiste rise through the ranks.
“There’s no female artiste in Nigeria right now that you can say has helped bring out another female artiste,” she said in part during the podcast.
In addition to her critique of the industry, Candy Bleakz opened up on her tomboyish nature.
She explained that her mother had made numerous attempts to change her behavior but was ultimately unsuccessful.
“I’m a tomboy naturally. I’m not doing it for music promotion. My mum had tried to change me but she couldn’t,” Bleakz added.
In other news, Nigerian female emcee cum rapper, Candy Bleakz claims she was supposed to have been signed in the place of singer, Temmie Ovwasa at YBNL Nation.
She revealed that she was shocked when Olamide unveiled Temmie because she (Candy) was on the brink of becoming the YBNL Princess in 2015.
The rapper made this disclosure when she featured in a recent episode of the Hip TV programme, Trending hosted by Big Brother Naija star Kim Oprah.
Temmie exited Olamide’s record label years ago, and she alleged exploitation among other issues as her reason for leaving.
