Music executive Dayo Adeneye highlights the great impact of 2Baba’s performances on his female fans.
On the ‘Deep Dive’ podcast with Teju Babyface, Dayo Adeneye revealed that women would often become captivated by 2Baba’s stage presence, leading to instances where some would faint during his concerts.
Adeneye, former director of Kennis Music, 2Baba’s former record label, recalled a notable incident in Ivory Coast where four women fainted during a performance.
He attributed this to 2baba’s ability to connect with his audience.
Adeneye also highlighted the label’s diverse roster, which included over 50 artists across various genres, such as Lagbaja, gospel, hip-hop, and fuji.
He said:
“At the height of Kennis Music, we had over 50 artists on the label. Lagbaja was signed to us. We had everybody, from gospel to hip-hop to fuji,” he said.
“We’ve been at a couple of shows where I’ve seen girls faint when 2Face was performing. I went on a tour in Ivory Coast, and brought a girl on stage and she hugged 2Face and passed out. During that concert, four girls fainted.
“These were people who didn’t speak English but they knew the lyrics of all his songs word-for-word. This was a francophone country and four girls fainted. We thought it was a joke but an ambulance had to carry them. They fainted just because they were in the presence of 2Face.”
