Ooni of Ife responds to $180k scam allegations by US-based woman

A scandal explodes like a ticking time bomb in the hallowed halls of power and tradition, as a US-based Nigerian woman accuses the Ooni of Ife of perpetrating a heartless scam, leaving her spirit crushed and her dreams in shambles. The controversy, fueled by a viral blogger's explosive revelations, paints a picture of trust brutally betrayed and intentions maliciously misrepresented. Her cries of outrage resonate through the digital sphere, demanding justice and accountability, was met with the Monarch's vehement rebuttal of the allegations, pulling no punches and leaving no stone unturned. This fierce counterpunch sets the stage for a dramatic showdown, with reputations hanging in the balance and the stakes higher than ever.

Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ife, has categorically dismissed a sensational report accusing him of scamming a US-based lady out of a jaw-dropping $180,000.

The scandal erupted when a popular blogger took to X, claiming the revered monarch received the hefty sum from an Osun-born woman identified as Fagbule in a supposed marriage scam.

The post laced with voicenote further alleged that the traditional ruler had a close relationship with the victim, an Ile-Ife indigene, who reportedly aimed to organize free medical services for women and children in her hometown, but ended up being conned.

In a furious response shared on Facebook by Moses Olafare, the Ooni’s spokesperson, Ogunwusi slammed the allegations as “fake, untrue, and absolutely unfounded.”

The monarch categorically denied having any personal connection with Fagbule, emphatically stating that she fell prey to cunning scammers masquerading as him.

Ogunwusi went a step further, issuing a stern warning to women against their desperation to become his wife, a desperation he implied made them easy targets for fraudsters.

The statement reads in part.

That the news as posted by a Twitter (now X) handle called “99% OPPRESSED” is fake, untrue, and absolutely an unfounded allegation only adopted as a nugatory character assassination tactic aimed at achieving a cheap popularity with a view to drawing huge followers/traffic for avaricious monetization from Twitter (X)”

The Ooni criticized Fagbule for her approach, suggesting that instead of running to social media, she should have taken her grievances to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the proper authorities to handle such serious matters.
