Zlatan’s baby mama, Davita reacts to trending video of son calling street kids ‘bad boys’

Zlatan Ibile's baby mama speaks on her son's encounter with street boys

Davita Lamai, the baby mama of popular singer Zlatan Ibile, has spoken out amid criticism over their son’s reaction to street hawkers.

In a viral video, their son was seen frightened by street kids hailing Zlatan’s car, and later referred to them as “bad boys.” While some found the video amusing, others criticized Zlatan for not correcting his son’s perception of the street vendors.

In light of this, Davita took to Instagram to address the situation, explaining that the criticism was unfounded and stemmed from a lack of understanding. She emphasized the importance of prioritizing safety in a country plagued by insecurity.

She shared her own experiences with street hawkers, noting that even as an adult, she feels intimidated when they crowd her car in traffic.

She wrote:

”When it’s your own child please allow them to get down from the car in that traffic and greet those boys one by one! Same boys that will mount your car, damage your car and bang on the windows if you give them chance. As you give 1 money the rest will come and violently harass you.

“Even me as an adult if I’m driving alone and those boys crowd my car in traffic and start looking through the window l am scared. What exactly is the teachable moment there? SMH

“My son is the most compassionate and caring and friendly boy ever to the point that when we finally permanently moved to lagos I’m the one that had to make him scared of people because he will follow anyone and everyone.

“That’s the reason why he’s scared now because I had to put that fear in him to protect him until he’s old enough to know for himself who is good and who is bad.

T”ill then everyone is a stranger and BAD unless mummy or daddy say otherwise. Please it’s not about being compassionate towards those less fortunate it’s about safety in a country we all know is extremely insecure.”
