Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday expresses her concerns about the economic situation in Nigeria.
She shared her recent experience of exhausting her N150,000 on essential food items at a market in Ogba.
On her Instagram page, Nkechi questioned the sustainability of the current economic conditions, wondering if others have resigned to the situation.
She listed the items she bought, highlighting the high cost of living.
Nkechi acknowledged that she is not wealthy and felt compelled to voice her concerns.
She also noted that individuals from various economic backgrounds are struggling, and it may be time for her to explore opportunities abroad.
She wrote:
“So I carried N150k to the market to buy basic things – Turkey 2 kilos, catfish, life chicken, and goat meat. Guess what? N1000 didn’t return home with me. One yam na N10000 now. I noticed that people aren’t talking about the economy anymore; it’s like you guys enjoy it. I am not rich, so I will complain. Besides, even the rich are complaining. I am not the rich but one of the masses, and I am complaining like this.
It’s time to dust my passport because it is no longer getting funny.”
Nkechi Blessing isn’t the only celebrity to speak out concerning the hardship in the country, few months ago, singer Skales cried out over worsening economic hardship.
Taking to his Twitter page, Skales threw an open question, wondering if there was anyone capable of offering viable solutions to the government to address the alarming situation.
Skales pointed out the increasing hardships faced by Nigerians, referencing recent protests in various parts of the country where people voiced their frustrations over hunger and the soaring prices of essential commodities.
“Isn’t there like anyone with solutions to help this government save Nigeria from crashing?” Skales wrote.
