Mohbad’s dad and wife team up for a high-impact 2nd autopsy to confirm cause of singer’s death

Amid the turbulent waves of grief and discord, Mohbad’s father and wife have forged an unprecedented alliance, a symbolic mission born of necessity and profound sorrow. Together, they embark on the arduous journey of a second autopsy, not just as family members but as souls united in determination, displaying their mutual resolve to penetrate the shadows of mystery and reveal the heart-wrenching reality and hidden truths behind his untimely death.

In a dramatic twist of events, the family of the late Ilerioluwa Aloba, famously known as Mohbad, has orchestrated a fresh and intense autopsy in their relentless pursuit of the truth behind his untimely death.

Recall that the music star’s  body was exhumed on September 21, 2023, while an autopsy was carried out that same day.

In May 2024, Wahab Shittu, a senior advocate of Nigeria (SAN), said the pathologist in charge of the autopsy told the coroner that Mohbad’s body had decomposed by the time the test was conducted.

The pathologist also said the cause of the singer’s death could not be ascertained.

The Coroner Court in Ikorodu, Lagos State, On June 26, under the decisive Magistrate T.A. Shotobi, granted a crucial order allowing Mr. Joseph Aloba, Mohbad’s father, to enlist a certified and independent pathologist for a thorough and untainted autopsy.

The court’s ruling also stipulated that Mr. Aloba would cover all expenses related to this comprehensive examination, from the autopsy itself to subsequent evaluations.

With the stage set for this pivotal investigation, a member of the family’s legal team, Monisola Odumosu, confirmed that the second autopsy was carried out over the weekend of July 19 and 20, 2024.

Odumosu noted that the family would proceed to carry out toxicology and histology tests on the necessary samples already obtained if the post-mortem procedure failed to reveal the cause of death.

“The second autopsy as requested by the Aloba family and ordered by the Magistrate of the Coroner Court, Ms. T.A. Shotobi, was conducted on Friday, July 19 and Saturday, July 20, 2024. This autopsy is a two-part exercise, with the first part now completed.

“If the cause of death cannot be determined from this initial examination, the second part will proceed, involving a toxicology and histology test on the necessary samples already obtained,” the statement read in part.

The legal team also revealed that the procedure was observed by Mohbad’s father, along with two distinct pathologists appointed by him and Mohbad’s wife, Wunmi.

This comprehensive procedure, conducted last Friday, was witnessed only by Mr. Joseph Aloba, the forensic pathologist appointed by Mr. Joseph Aloba and his team, legal representatives of both Mr. Joseph Aloba and a pathologist appointed by Wunmi Aloba to observe the procedure,” the statement added.
