Nollywood actor Kenneth Okonkwo cuts ties with Peter Obi, gives reasons

As Okonkwo lays bare his soul, in a deeply emotional and stirring statement, his words resonate with the echoes of a dream deferred, a vision of Nigeria’s potential seemingly shattered by the very hands that once held the promise of change. His scathing critique of Obi, and painful disassociation with him, is a call to arms, a desperate plea for a leader who will rise above the mire of lost hope and lead with the unyielding resolve needed to dismantle the strongholds of the opposition political parties.

In a thunderous upheaval that has rocked the political sphere, Kenneth Okonkwo has cut off  his association with Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential standard-bearer in the 2023 elections.

Okonkwo, in a fiery statement posted on his X page on Sunday, did not mince words, branded Peter Obi as woefully weak and indecisive, incapable of tackling the nation’s monumental challenges head-on.

The Veteran Actor turned politician revealed that the chaotic developments within the Labour Party have galvanized his resolve to forge a new path in his political career.

He expressed profound dismay at Peter Obi’s blatant disregard for building a formidable party of integrity, instead of seizing the moment to galvanize a strong political base.

According to Kenneth Okonkwo, his shock deepened when Obi brazenly declared that his mission was not to build a strong Labour Party, but merely to solve Nigeria’s problems, utterly disregarding the essential need for a solid political foundation to dismantle the opposition’s grip.

He faulted Peter Obi for his glaring failure to distance himself from the ongoing turmoil and alleged criminal activities plaguing the Labour Party’s National Working Committee (NWC), nor for his lack of support for the Labour Union’s relentless struggle for workers’ welfare. This betrayal, Okonkwo asserted, has only underscored Obi’s inability to lead with the decisiveness and vision required to rescue Nigeria from its current quagmire.

Okonkwo laid bare his frustrations, also condemned both the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as toothless tigers, hopelessly ill-equipped to steer Nigeria towards greatness, and instead, actively undermining the country’s progress.

He emphasized that what Nigeria desperately needs is not just any party, but a formidable political entity with a robust grassroots foundation and a leader with the iron will to dismantle the entrenched power of the PDP and APC.
