A distressing video has emerged on social media, capturing the moment when prominent Nigerian activist VeryDarkMan alongside other protesters met an unfriendly resistance from men of the Nigeria Police Force.
The incident occurred on August 2nd, 2024, the second day of the nationwide protests, as Nigerians continued to take to the streets to voice their discontent with the government’s handling of economic hardship and hunger.
VeryDarkMan, a vocal advocate for change, joined the peaceful protest in Abuja, but the gathering was met with an unexpected and violent response from the police.
Without warning, tear gas was fired into the crowd, causing widespread panic, rampage, and injury. VeryDarkMan was among those affected, suffering a severe eye reaction after being exposed to the tear gas.
In a video shared on social media, VeryDarkMan can be seen lamenting and displaying his swollen eyes.
He further alleged that the Minister of FCT, Wike, who previously served as the Governor of Rivers State, was responsible for ordering the security officials to fire tear gas at the protesters.
