Nigerian Afropop singer Oxlade has offered his financial support to a woman who drew widespread attention for protesting with an empty pot during the #EndBadGovernance protest that began on August 1st.

The nationwide protests, which began on August 12024, saw people across the country take to the streets with signs denouncing the current government’s administration.

Among the protesters, one woman stood out by appearing with an empty pot, highlighting her struggles with hunger and food scarcity.

Oxlade.

Her photo swiftly went viral on social media, generating widespread sympathy and concern from netizens.

Surprisingly, Oxlade, a Nigerian singer took to the popular microblogging platform, Twitter to address the situation.

He shared a photo of the woman and announced his intention to offer financial assistance.

Accompanying the photo, he wrote:

“Someone please help me find this woman, I’ve got 500k for her 🙏🏾

Oxlade opened up about the adversity he faced during his formative years. The singer admitted that before he became famous, he used to sleep under the Ojuelegba Bridge in Lagos after escaping from his parents’ home.

He revealed that his father didn’t support his choice to pursue a career in music, this inspired him to leave his family behind and go after his his goals.

Oxlade said this while appearing in an episode of the Afrobeats podcast hosted by Adesope Olajide.
