Portable faces backlash, loses followers on Instagram over protest comments

Nigerian Street pop singer Habeeb Olalomi, popularly known as Portable, has seen a dramatic loss of 100,000 Instagram followers just hours after making controversial comments about ongoing protests in Nigeria.

In a viral video, Portable asserted that there were no protests in Sango, Ogun State, where he resides.

He claimed that previous demonstrations had been ignored by the government, leading him and those in his community to focus on their daily activities instead.

Portable’s comments sparked outrage among his fans. Within 12 hours of posting the video, the singer experienced a significant drop in his Instagram following.

Fans had warned that they would unfollow him if he continued to make such statements, and many followed through on their threats.

Additionally, numerous fans have pledged to unfollow the artist if he persists with his controversial remarks.
