On Tuesday, August 6, Juju maestro King Sunny Ade and reggae legend Orits Wiliki spearheaded the Musical Copyright Society Nigeria (MCSN) on a deeply emotional condolence visit to the family of the late, great Onyeka Onwenu.
According to Vanguard, the distinguished delegates made their way to the family’s residence in the upscale Ikoyi district of Lagos State.
Among the Celebrities were prominent figures such as the renowned flutist Tee Mac, influential music executive Kenny Ogungbe, and the dedicated general manager of MCSN, Mayowa Ayilaran.
Addressing the bereaved family, Ayilaran heaped praise upon Onyeka, hailing her as both a producer and performer of extraordinary caliber. He lauded her as the very embodiment of creativity, a beacon of artistic brilliance whose legacy would endure the test of time.
King Sunny Ade, affectionately known as KSA, offered heartfelt prayers for Onyeka’s sons, invoking divine blessings upon them. In a poignant reflection, he remarked,
“You know, musicians who have done well like that don’t die because their names will still be ringing in the whole world.”

The sorrow surrounding Onyeka’s sudden demise was palpable. She passed away unexpectedly last Tuesday, following a mesmerizing performance at the 80th birthday celebration of Stella Okoli, the esteemed founder and CEO of Emzor Pharmaceuticals.
