Jasmine Okafor speaks on cutting ties with late Mr Ibu’s family

There is a unique kind of agony that comes with realizing that the love and loyalty you poured into someone’s life were met with nothing but suspicion and betrayal. Jasmine Okafor, in the twilight of Mr. Ibu’s life, stood like a pillar of strength amidst the chaos, only to have her integrity questioned by those she considered family. The accusations, the venomous whispers, and the attempts to stain her name were daggers to her soul. In the face of such heartbreak, Jasmine spoke on severing the ties that once bound her together with Mr Ibu's family

Jasmine Okekeagwu, famously known as Jasmine Okafor, the adopted daughter of the late legendary actor John Okafor, or as the world knows him, Mr. Ibu, has finally spoken out about the explosive drama that erupted between her and his family during the actor’s final days.

The content creator, in a tell-all interview with PUNCH, didn’t mince words as she set the record straight, laying bare the accusations that flew her way, including the alleged arrest attempts led by Mr. Ibu’s wife, Stella Maris Okafor, and other family members.

Despite the storm of allegations and the toxic cloud of suspicion that surrounded her, Jasmine made it clear that she hasn’t severed ties with the very family that tried to paint her as the villain.

According to her, she has chosen a higher path, focusing on herself and steering clear of the chaos that nearly swallowed her whole.

Jasmine revealed that the family’s inability to grasp her true intentions led to the turmoil, but she’s now more determined than ever to protect her peace and well-being.

Her words;

“I won’t say I cut ties with them totally. I am just focused on myself, and saving myself from a lot of trouble.

“It is what I do. Even the help I rendered to them (Ibu family) is more like charity, because when someone that is not related to one stands in for years to make sure that all is good, it is charity. But, they did not understand my intention from the beginning, because they only thought of what I could offer and what they could get from me. Now, I feel it is better to help people that don’t have anything to offer. That is where the real blessing is.

“I have been doing this for a long time, even when I was with daddy (Mr Ibu). Since 2020, I have been doing personal charity. While growing up, I saw my mother helping people, and it was from there that my love for humanity grew.”
