Boypee denies taking down ‘Ogechi Remix’ video because of ‘Davido’s greed’

Boypee Addresses Claims Surrounding the Removal of 'Ogechi Remix' Video

Nigerian singer Boypee has denied allegations that he and his collaborators removed the video of their hit song ‘Ogechi Remix’ featuring Davido due to a dispute over royalties.

Recall that the video was recently taken down from YouTube due to copyright issues.

The song, which features BoyPee, Brown Joel, and Hyce, was performed live during Davido’s grand wedding to Chioma on June 25, 2024.

Following its release, “Ogechi Remix” quickly captured the attention of fans and followers. The official music video was uploaded on July 19, 2024.

In a surprising turn of events, YouTube has removed the video, citing a copyright claim. Reports indicate that Davido is not listed as the official artist on YouTube for the song.

A trending video circulating online suggests that the original version of “Ogechi” was created by another artist before the remix was made.

There has been no official statement yet from Davido or the involved artists regarding the removal.

However, in a recent update, A social media user, with the handle @Johnnyescoba posted a report credited to Boypee, suggesting that the upcoming artist claimed Davido wanted to take all the royalties from the views, leading to the video’s removal.

“‘We had to take down the Ogechi Remix video cuz Davido wanted to take all the royalties.’

“- Boypee in a recent interview” the user wrote.

Boypee in reaction, refuted this claim, questioning the source of the information and the motivations behind it.

Quoting the post, he wrote:
