- Timi Agbaje has candidly asked his guest, actress Lizzy Anjorin if she is a thief.
- It’s no news that the controversial actress was earlier in the year accused of stealing gold worth N90,000 at a Lagos market.
- Despite her denial and consequent legal actions against her accusers, a video showing Lizzy Anjorin in the market amongst her accusers made it quite difficult for her fans to believe her innocence.
Nollywood actress Lizzy Anjorin has addressed the theft allegations from February 2024, where she was accused of stealing gold valued at ₦90,000 from a market.
In an interview with media personality Timi Agbaje, Anjorin denied the accusations, stressing that theft is far beneath her.
She noted the improbability of the claim by noting that the gold in question was worth ₦91,000, while the price for a gram of gold was ₦150,000.
She pointed out that a gram of gold is greatly smaller than a grain of rice, questioning how one could steal something so minute. After Agbaje point-blank asked the actress if she is a thief, Lizzy Anjorin responded:
“Let’s first establish the fact that we’re talking about ₦91,000 gold when a gram of gold was 150,000. A gram of gold is less than a grain of rice so how can you go into the market to steal something less than a grain of rice, a single rice?.”
Anjorin expressed her anger over the allegations, calling them “ridiculous.” She clarified her position, stating:
“I’m a certified jewellery seller, I sell gold and diamonds. I am also a certified fabric merchant so how can I stoop so low to go to Eko Idumota to steal a gram of gold? something that is less than a grain of rice?
That is ridiculous. I am not a thief, I will never be a thief. I am too straightforward and too disciplined to become a thief.”
She also recounted the events of February 5, 2024, when a viral video surfaced showing her in a shop.
In the video, she was seen avoiding being filmed and moving to a less visible spot, while a crowd gathered, and a woman’s voice could be heard stating that Anjorin did not steal.
