Daniel Regha criticizes Davido’s father over N1 billion donation to church

Daniel Regha Sparks Debate with Comments on Davido's Father's Charity

Media personality Daniel Regha has shared his thoughts on Davido Dad’s recent donation of N1 billion to a church.

Recall that Dr Adedeji Adeleke, the father of singer Davido, had made a staggering donation of N1 billion to the Centenary Endowment Fund of the Cherubim and Seraphim (C&S) Church.

This generous gesture was made in honour of his late mother, Madam Esther Adeleke, during a Thanksgiving service held at the church’s headquarters in Lagos.

Dr. Adeleke’s announcement was met with applause and loud chants from the congregation.

Dignitaries such as Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, Gov. Ademola Adeleke of Osun, and Gov. Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State all smiled in approval.

Making the announcement, Dr Adeleke said:

“On behalf of our late mother, senior mother in Israel, late Mrs Esther Adeleke, we want to contribute to the endowment fund, Centenary Endowment Fund. We are contributing the sum of N1 billion.”

Marvelled by the donation, blogger Tunde Ednut who shared the video wrote:

“ONE BILLION NAIRA IS NOT A JOKE Oooooo!!!

Imagine inviting Davido’s father to your launching of anything and he attends, aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! Wahala.

I wrote it earlier today that hmmmmmmmm, as Davido papa don go this church so, the offering he will give in this church will be FAT and here it is. He gave ₦1,000,000,000 out.

God bless every giver out there. Wow!

DROP THAT LOVE ❤️❤️❤️❤️ EMOJI IF YOU LOVE THE ADELEKES.”

Daniel Regha in reaction, questioned the timing and allocation of the donation, suggesting that the funds could have been better utilized to address pressing issues in the country.

He emphasized the need for creating employment opportunities, particularly in a context where many individuals face starvation and struggle to survive.

His words: “Giving to the church is fine, but donating over a billion to any church, in a country where millions are starving & struggling to survive doesn’t seem right. Davido’s dad should’ve used about 80% of that money to create employment opportunities.”
