Where is KWAM 1? – Fans wonder as Pasuma, Obesere, Osupa, Malaika, others reunite at Fuji festival (VIDEO)

In the luminous embrace of the Lagos Fuji Music Festival, where the echoes of a golden era reverberated through the night, the grand stage became a shrine to a genre that has weathered the storms of time. Amid the dazzle and the harmony of stars like Pasuma, Osupa, Obesere, and Malaika, others, there was a poignant void—the glaring absence of KWAM 1, the titan whose legendary rhythms have shaped the very essence of Fuji. The festival, a canvas painted with the legacy of countless voices, felt incomplete.

Just like Afrobeats, Fuji music continues to reign supreme in Nigeria, and its enduring influence was showcased in a grand celebration on Wednesday, August 21, at the illustrious Blue Roof Pavilion, LTV 8, Ikeja, Lagos.

The festival, an opulent tribute to Fuji’s finest and its enduring legacy, was a glittering spectacle featuring the genre’s elite: Wasiu Alabi Pasuma, King Saheed Osupa, Obesere, Adewale Ayuba, Malaika, Kollington, and Gospel singer Yinka Ayefele as celebrity guest, amongst others.

In a captivating moment captured on video, Pasuma, accompanied by his entourage, made a striking entrance and gracefully greeted the esteemed elders of the Fuji world.

The scene was electric as Pasuma engaged in animated conversation with Osupa, while Malaika and Obesere mingled within their own circle.

The event also paid a heartfelt homage to the late Fuji legend Ayinde Barrister, with the audience observing a solemn minute of silence to honor his memory and contributions to the genre.

Yet, the festival’s glamour was slightly overshadowed by the conspicuous absence of Fuji’s reigning monarch, King Wasiu Ayinde, famously known as KWAM 1.

His absence was a topic of great intrigue and speculation among fans, who eagerly scanned the footage for his familiar presence.

However, it was later revealed that KWAM 1 was overseas, dazzling audiences in the United States with his electrifying Fuji performances, proving that his influence stretches far beyond the shores of Nigeria.
