In the sacred halls of the Oba of Benin, Rema's voice rose like an ancestral call, intertwining the pulse of Afrobeats with the beating heart of his heritage. With each note, he bridged centuries of history and modern rhythm, kneeling in humble reverence before a throne that has seen generations rise and fall. Here, amidst the echoes of tradition, a young star paid homage to the ancient soul of Benin, his every word a prayer, every melody a tribute. In that moment, Rema was not just a singer; he was a vessel carrying the hopes and dreams of a people, a son returning to his roots to honor the legacy of his land

Afrobeats sensation Divine Ikubor, better known as Rema, made a powerful return to his roots with a special homage that shook the very foundation of Benin’s cultural pride.

The superstar’s visit to the palace of His Royal Majesty, Uku Akpolokpolo Oba Ewuare II, sent waves of admiration reverberating through the city.

Arriving in his beloved hometown of Benin, Edo State, just days before his much-awaited homecoming concert, Rema was on a mission to reconnect with his heritage and honor those who have paved the way before him.

The concert, set for August 30 at the iconic Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, was announced in July, sparking excitement across the nation. In a display of deep respect and cultural homage, Rema’s journey was not just about his music—it was about celebrating the land that shaped him.

He met with the Governor of Edo State, Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki, and rubbed shoulders with the city’s elite, showing his gratitude to the dignitaries who have supported his meteoric rise.

But the real pinnacle of his homecoming was his visit to the palace of the Oba of Benin, where Rema took his acts of reverence to new heights. With a deep bow, he knelt before the Oba, paying the utmost respect to the revered monarch, a gesture that spoke volumes of his connection to his cultural roots.

With the monarch’s blessing, Rema then made a bold request—to perform his hit song in the sacred halls of the palace.

Granted permission, the young star launched into an a cappella rendition of his chart-topping hit, his voice ringing out clear and strong.

The atmosphere was electrified as everyone in the room, from the royal court to the guests, joined him in singing along, their voices blending in a harmonious tribute that filled the air with a sense of unity and celebration.
