Ayo Makun took to Instagram to address the issue, stating that he has no problem with young actors drawing inspiration from his style, but specifically cautioned Deyemi Okanlawon to do so responsibly.
Ayo Makun’s message was in response to Deyemi Okanlawon’s perceived imitation of his style.
“I have no issues with young actors trying to copy why swagger on and off the set of The Waiter. BUT @deyemitheactor, if you want to copy your MENTOR, please learn how to copy responsibly The Waiter Movie” Ayo Makun wrote.
However, Deyemi Okanlawon in his comment section countered by referencing the historical example of Tinubu being inspired by Awolowo, implying that he too can draw inspiration from his “ancestral mentor” Ayo Makun.
