Chidimma won Miss Universe Nigeria by pity not merit – Verydarkman

Verydarkman Reacts To Chidimma Adetshina's Win As Miss Universe Nigeria

The recent crowning of Chidimma Adetshina as Miss Universe Nigeria 2024 has sparked mixed reactions.

Recall that Chidimma, a South African model, faced backlash earlier this year for her participation in Miss South Africa 2024, a situation which led to her withdrawal from the competition.

Following her withdrawal from the competition, Chidimma Adetshina was later invited by Miss Universe Nigeria, an invitation she honoured.

The final competition was held on the 31st of August and Chidimma emerged victorious over 24 other contestants in the Miss Universe Nigeria 2024, stirring mixed reactions.

Media personality and activist Verydarkman, has shared his thoughts on the outcome of the competition, suggesting that Chidimma Adetshina’s win may have been influenced by sympathy rather than merit.

He expressed concerns that this decision may have diminished the efforts of other contestants who had prepared extensively for the pageant.

Verydarkman also highlighted Chidimma’s inability to speak the language of the state she represented, despite her Nigerian heritage.

He noted that her participation in the pageant was motivated by her circumstances in South Africa, rather than a long-standing connection to Nigeria.

Because the girl get small problem for South Africa, una invite am come Nigeria make she be Miss Universe. How about the people that have been preparing for this thing for a long time? You people gave her by pity and not be merit; this is not fair,” he said.

Verydarkman isn’t the only one to question Chidimma’s participation in the competition, BBNaija Phyna had faulted the  inclusion of the former Miss South Africa finalist in Miss Universe Nigeria pageant.

Taking to her X handle, Phyna claimed Adetshina’s inclusion could affect the chances of “typical Nigerian queens” in the beauty pageant.
