Rema recounted how the church helped his family following his father's demise


Music sensation Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, has made headlines with his generous donation to a church in Benin, Edo state.

Following the resounding success of his homecoming concert in his hometown, a heartwarming video has surfaced online, showcasing Rema’s visit to the Christ Embassy campground on Sapele Road.

In the video, Rema expresses his gratitude to God, accompanied by his family, for the blessings and triumphs he has experienced in his life and career.

During his address to the congregation, Rema announced a staggering donation of N105 million, demonstrating his appreciation for God’s favour and guidance.

Rema also shared a touching testimony, recounting how the church had been a pillar of support for his family during a difficult period.

He revealed that after losing his father, the church had come to their aid, providing his mother with a means of livelihood by setting up a shop for her. This act of kindness had a profound impact on Rema, and he felt compelled to give back to the church which had been a source of comfort and strength for his family.

The singer subsequently pledged N40 million towards the church’s infrastructure development, N20 million to support the Rhapsodies of Realities program, and N25 million to the teen church.

Additionally, Rema donated N20 million to support widows, drawing from his personal experience of feeling alone after his father’s passing.

He said:

“The church embraced me, I pledge N40 million to the infrastructure of the church, N20 million to Rhapsodies of Realities, N25 million to teen church. When I lost my dad, we felt alone, the church opened a shop for my mum, if there is any widow, I am pledging N20 million.”
