Why you should charge according to your worth – Shallipopi tells artistes

Shallipopi speaks on high fees charges by artistes

Nigerian singer, rapper and songwriter Crown Uzama, known professionally as Shallipopi has advised his fellow artistes to charge according to their values.

The 24 year old stated this while addressing the debate over high fees charged by Nigerian artistes.

Speaking in an interview with News Central TV, the singer noted that an artiste’s value is linked to the success and reach of their music.

While disputing the notion that Nigerian artistes have overpriced themselves out of the local market, he emphasised that artistes who achieve similar streaming as American artistes should charge comparable fees. Shallipopi said:

“It depends on your music and where it has gotten, that is what your price is going to be.

“If your music has gotten the same stream as an American artiste, you should be charging the same way they charge but if it’s not up to that you cannot overcharge.”
