- Laura Adebisi stated that the ideological differences between the North and South are enough reasons for Nigeria not to exist.
- She accused the British government of empowering the Nigerian government to stop Biafra’s secession to continue pillaging the country.
British-Nigerian actress Laura Lake Adebisi has expressed her opinion on the formation of Nigeria.
Speaking in a recent video, the movie star suggested that the country’s ideological divisions may have made it unsuitable for unity.
Adebisi discussed the historical context of Nigeria’s creation and the ongoing impacts of colonialism.
She highlighted the significant differences in ideology between the northern and southern regions, which have led to tensions and conflicts.
Adebisi also criticized the British government’s role in Nigeria’s history, accusing them of prioritizing their own interests over the country’s well-being.
Adebisi said:
“The footprints of colonialism are over Nigeria. Nigeria should have never been a country! The difference in ideology from the northern side to the southern side is insane.
“When the Eastern side tried to secede and form Biafra, the ex-colonialists [Britain] were like, no, we don’t want that. So they instead empower Nigeria to crush that country.
“They were like, we want you guys to stay like this so we can continue to pillage and take all of your resources.
“So the footprints of colonialism are still all over Nigeria. It’s in the shape of the country. It’s on the map.”
