American actress and singer Selena Gomez has shared her experiences with health issues and their impact on her life.
In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Selena Gomez revealed that due to complications from lupus and other medical conditions, carrying a pregnancy would pose significant risks to both her own life and the child’s.
Gomez expressed that she had to come to terms with this reality, acknowledging the emotional toll it took on her.
“I have a lot of medical issues that would put my life and the baby’s in jeopardy. That was something I had to grieve for a while,” she stated
She also discussed her plans for her future, including her decision to retain her surname after marriage, “I am Selena Gomez. That’s it” she said.
Gomez has been open about her health struggles, including her lupus diagnosis, which led to a career break in 2015.
She also underwent a kidney transplant in 2017 as a result of her condition.
Selena Gomez had earlier revealed that she plan to adopt kids if she is single at 35.
The 31 year old singer revealed that her decision to adopt was influenced by her five-year period of being single before starting a romantic relationship with producer and songwriter Benny Blanco last year.
During an interview with Time Magazine, Selena Gomez opened up about her struggle with loneliness and the process of accepting her singlehood.
“I was alone for five years, and I got really used to it,” she said.
“A lot of people are afraid of being alone and I probably tortured myself in my head for like two years being alone, and then I kind of accepted it. Then I came up with my plan, which was I was going to adopt at 35 if I had not met anyone.”
