Hardship: ‘It’s not about giving people rice’ – Rema tells Nigerian politicians
  • Rema calls on Nigerian politicians to implement more effective measures to address hardship in the country, rather than just providing temporary relief.
  • He encouraged them to establish sustainable platforms to provide for the masses.

Afrobeats singer Rema has urged Nigerian politicians to rethink their approach to addressing poverty and poor governance.

In a recent interview on “The Breakfast Club,” Rema stressed that merely providing temporary relief, such as food handouts, is not enough.

He advocated for establishing sustainable systems that consistently support the basic needs of the population.

Rema also revealed that he has been offering policy advice to Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki during their meetings, he demonstrated his interest in contributing to positive change in the state.

He said:

“It’s not about giving rice. Do you know if some kids have an allergy to rice? What about tomorrow? What are they going to eat tomorrow?

“It’s better to create a platform that would consistently provide. Create a platform that would consistently educate. Create a platform that would consistently clothe. Create a platform that would consistently shelter the hungry people.”

In another news, Rema pledges N105M to church at thanksgiving service at his hometown in Benin.

A heartwarming video has surfaced online, showcasing Rema’s visit to the Christ Embassy campground on Sapele Road.

In the video, Rema expresses his gratitude to God, accompanied by his family, for the blessings and triumphs he has experienced in his life and career.

During his address to the congregation, Rema announced a staggering donation of N105 million, demonstrating his appreciation for God’s favour and guidance.

Rema also shared a touching testimony, recounting how the church had been a pillar of support for his family during a difficult period.

He revealed that after losing his father, the church had come to their aid, providing his mother with a means of livelihood by setting up a shop for her. This act of kindness had a profound impact on Rema, and he felt compelled to give back to the church which had been a source of comfort and strength for his family.

The singer subsequently pledged N40 million towards the church’s infrastructure development, N20 million to support the Rhapsodies of Realities program, and N25 million to the teen church.
