Consult AY, others – RMD advises Basketmouth as he steps into new entertainment ground (VIDEO)

RMD, ever the seasoned mentor, his message to Basketmouth was simple but profound. In a world that craves more than mere ambition, there lies an unassuming yet vital strength in acknowledging the necessity for guidance before venturing into uncharted waters. Those who have walked the road before you, carry wisdom carved from their struggles, from their failures, and from their victories. To not seek that knowledge is to deny yourself a crucial tool.

Nollywood legend Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD) didn’t just congratulate Basketmouth—he handed him a playbook on how to conquer the world of filmmaking.

As Basketmouth, the 46-year-old comedian-turned-aspiring filmmaker, prepares to launch his highly-anticipated debut movie, A Ghetto Love Story, RMD served up some top-tier advice.

In an Instagram clip shared by the comedian, RMD not only showered praise on Basketmouth for his bold step into the film industry but also urged him to seek wisdom from Nollywood’s elite.

The 63-year-old veteran actor made it clear that venturing into filmmaking isn’t just about raw talent—it’s about leaning on the expertise of those who have paved the way.

RMD highlighted the importance of tapping into the knowledge and experience of filmmaking heavyweights like Funke Akindele, known for her blockbuster hits; Mo Abudu, one of the queens of African storytelling; AY Makun, who himself transitioned from stand-up comedy to directing box office smashes; and Kunle Afolayan, a genius in crafting cinematic masterpieces.

According to RMD, having these powerhouse creatives in his corner would not only elevate Basketmouth’s film, but also position him as a serious player in Nollywood.

RMD said;

“Congratulations on your new film ‘A Ghetto Love Story’. I say make I call you, hail you first and then give you advice. You know you are entering a place where people have already established. Hold ground.

“You fit press things for different places. This is not comedy. Do not do it anyhow. This na film

“When you enter, go find people wey hold ground. People wey dey control the whole area. All of them like Funke Akindele, Mo Abudu, AY, Kunle Afolayan and other people wey dey do film well. Wey be oga. Call them.

“Tell them you want to know one or two things. Comedy with Buchi fit work, but that na after you don pay respect to people wey hold ground.”
