Akwa Ibom governor Umo Eno on Friday fulfilled his promise of renovation of the family house of Abigail Fredrick, a Nollywood Make-up artist who died on April 13, following a boat mishap that also claimed the lives of actor Junior Pope and three others.

Governor Eno fulfilled the promise he made after the death of Abigail with the handover over of a remodeled, fully furnished 6-bedroom apartment to the family of the late make-up artiste at Ikot Udoma community in Eket Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.

The Governor, who was represented by Mr Frank Archibong, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs said that the gesture was in fulfilment of his promise to the family in April.

During the visit, the governor, also pledged to support her two younger sisters through university education, and to renovate their family house.

According to Archibong, the governor’s gesture is a clear demonstration of empathy and fatherly support to the family of the late make-up artist. He said:

“This is purely service to humanity, it is not politically-motivated, I am here to properly handover your renovated building to you,”

Also speaking, Mr Nsikanabasi Umoekpo, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Humanitarian Services, said that the building had been completed about a month ago. He clarified:

“The governor insisted that it should be furnished before being presented to the family,”

Mr Frederick Edet, the deceased father, thanked the governor for standing by the family during their moment of grief. He said:

“On behalf of my family, I thank you for the support, I pray God to bless and strengthen you to serve our dear state.”

Abigail Edith Frederick was one of five film practitioners, including actor Junior Pope who tragically lost their lives when their boat capsized on the River Niger on April 10.

They were in the middle of filming Another Side of Life, a movie by producer Adanma Luke.

Frederick was initially buried by the riverbank after her body was found on April 11. However, Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno instructed that her body be returned to the state for a proper burial. See photos of renovated family house of Abigail Frederick and the handing over below:
