Veteran Nollywood actors Kanayo O Kanayo and Fausat Balogun, popularly known as Madam Saje, and are set to receive ‘Lifetime Achievement’ awards at the 2024 Best of Nollywood (BON) Awards.
The awards ceremony will take place on November 24 at the Sugar Factory Film Studios in Ilorin, Kwara State.
The founder of BON Awards, Seun Oloketuyi, made the announcement in a statement on Friday, highlighting the importance of celebrating movie icons while they are still alive.
“Why must we wait until our movie heroes are no longer with us to honor them? Posthumous awards are important, but it’s even more meaningful when they can receive them during their lifetime,” Oloketuyi said in part.
He further emphasized the impact of both actors on Nollywood’s development.
“Fausat Balogun known as Madam Saje and Kanayo are people we grew up watching. They inspired the generation we watch now, and still maintained their stand in the industry. That’s why we chose them as this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award winners,”he added.
Previous recipients of the ‘Lifetime Achievement’ award are veteran actors Toyin Adegbola, Madam Kofo, and Adebayo Salami.
