Gov. Obaseki, in new interview, reacts to speculations of rift with Benin royal palace over artefacts (VIDEO)

Through his firm and heartfelt declaration, Obaseki left no room for doubt: the understanding between his administration and the royal palace is as thick as the legacy they are sworn to protect

Governor of Edo State, Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki, has finally taken center stage to confront a barrage of rumors swirling around his administration.

Speculations had been mounting about a brewing clash between Obaseki’s administration and the Oba of Benin, Omo N’Oba N’Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo Oba Ewuare II, with whispers that the governor sought to wrest control of the prized Benin Empire artefacts from the royal palace.

In a compelling new interview that surfaced on Benin Blogger’s electrifying platform, Obaseki took a hard stance against these allegations, slamming the rumors as nothing more than sensationalized falsehoods.

With a calm yet forceful tone, he dismantled the narrative, making it abundantly clear that no such move against the Oba or the royal treasures had ever taken place.

In a deeper revelation, the governor highlighted his personal involvement in the global movement to bring the Benin artefacts back to their ancestral home.

Obaseki passionately addressed the growing misconceptions, pointing out that the media had taken liberties in portraying his government as adversaries of the palace.
