Wizkid’s dad weighs in on son’s heated rivalry with Davido

As a father, Chief Balogun's insights carry a profound emotional weight. He emphasized the need for Wizkid to remain grounded, reminding him of the values that shaped him and the love of music that ignited his journey

Chief Munir Balogun, the proud father of Afrobeats luminary Ayodeji Balogun, famously known as Wizkid, has taken a bold step into the fray to address the intensifying rivalry between his son and fellow superstar Davido.

In an exclusive and candid interview with Punch Newspapers, Chief Balogun laid bare his thoughts on the escalating tension shedding light on the emotional landscape surrounding these two music giants.

With an air of authority, Chief Balogun articulated the gravity of the situation, stressing the importance of remaining steadfast amid the swirling chaos of fan rivalries and public scrutiny.

He revealed that he has advised Wizkid to dismiss the provocations and jabs coming from Davido’s fervent fan base, emphasizing that their goal is often to incite drama rather than foster genuine appreciation for the music.

His words;

“I told my son that he shouldn’t look or listen to whatever the boys who are supporters of Davido are saying. The supporters are only looking for what they will say to collect money and all of that.”

Chief Balogun underscored that engaging with these distractions would only serve to derail Wizkid’s focus and diminish the artistry that has earned him a dedicated global following.

“They are just looking for what they are going to eat and I told him not to pay much attention to them,” he added.
