Patrick Doyle queries Davido over choice of outfit to meet the Olu of Warri

Davido’s outfit during visit to Olu of Warri raises eyebrows

Veteran actor Patrick Doyle has raised questions about Afrobeats star Davido’s choice of attire during a visit to the Olu of Warri.

Davido who was in Warri on Saturday for a performance visited the palace of the Olu alongside fellow musician Phyno.

Photos from the visit which were shared online sparked a conversation about the appropriateness of Davido’s outfit.

The artistes, joined by comedian AY Makun and celebrity barman Cubana Chief Priest were in Warri for the much-anticipated “Warri AGAIN” event, organised by former Nigeria Football Federation President Amaju Pinnick.

In the photos, Davido is seen wearing brown shorts and a white shirt.

Patrick Doyle an Itsekiri native questioned whether the casual outfit was suitable for meeting a king of the Olu’s stature.

Sharing a photo of Davido with the Olu, the actor captioned it, “Is this appropriate dressing to visit the palace of a king, the calibre of the Olu of Warri?”

The post quickly garnered reactions with fans offering their perspectives.

Azuka Jebose responded, “It is absolutely appropriate. He is not naked. He stood honorably and respectfully. He did not desecrate the King or the throne. Your conservative thinking doesn’t apply here, let him breathe.”

Tunde Adebola weighed in, “What if he were a white guy? Unless there’s a specific dress code, it’s not wrong.”

Jeff Uzor added, “If the palace attendants allowed it, I guess it’s fine.”

Bukky Plumptre commented, “It seems unplanned, but Davido is one of the most respectful artists when it comes to royals and elders.”
