Nigerian activist and lawyer Deji Adeyanju has plunged headfirst into the escalating drama surrounding the disappearance of controversial rapper Speed Darlington, a case that has now dragged in the towering figure of global superstar Burna Boy.
This saga took a dark turn when Speed Darlington, known for his unfiltered and often confrontational takes, was declared missing after three days of complete silence and video of him in handcuffs, coupled with his mum’s plea to Burna Boy, setting the internet ablaze with speculation and concern.
The disappearance came right on the heels of Darlington making bold, headline-grabbing claims linking Burna Boy to the high-profile arrest of American music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs.
Stepping into this charged atmosphere, Adeyanju shook the hornet’s nest with a series of fiery posts on X, formally announcing that his law firm had taken on Darlington’s case.
Adeyanju, never one to shy away from controversy, lashed out at what he described as an alarming clampdown on free speech, hinting that powerful forces, presumably Burna, might be at play behind Darlington’s sudden disappearance.
He passionately argued that no one, regardless of their views, should be hounded by law enforcement or silenced for speaking their truth.
“We are now involved in the Speed Darlington matter. We will do everything to get him freed. Nobody should be arrested by the police for expressing their views or opinions.
“We urge the authorities to stop the clampdown on freedom of speech in Nigeria,” he wrote.
But Adeyanju wasn’t just there to throw accusations—he came with answers. In a stunning twist, the lawyer confirmed that his team had successfully tracked down the rapper, revealing that Darlington had indeed been located.
“We have just located Speed Darlington and we are working on getting him freed. The attack on freedom of expression in Nigeria must stop,” he wrote.
