Nollywood actress Folorunsho Adeola, popularly known as Arike Gold, has shared how social media has greatly boosted her business ventures and career.
In an interview with Saturday Beats, Adeola noted the platform’s benefits, particularly in reaching a global customer base.
Folorunsho Adeola said:
“I love social media. I want it to remain the way it is because I make money from it through my business. Most of my customers are in the Diaspora.”
The actress, who is also known for her keen fashion sense, revealed that her hair is the most valuable item in her wardrobe. “It is very expensive,” she noted.
Regarding her roles in Nollywood, Adeola explained that her appearance often varies depending on the script’s demands.
Reflecting on industry practices, she touched on a prevalent issue where actors are sometimes underpaid due to personal relationships. Folorunsho Adeola commented:
“It was like that even before we got into the industry. When we got in, we had to do free jobs. Now, things have changed. We are in the age of social media. One can even be a celebrity on Instagram before being a celebrity on TV. Then we were doing it for our friends; now it has to come with money.”
The first movie Adeola featured in was Alapa Stainless, produced by Mr. Latin in 2008 but her breakthrough movies were Ayonitemi and Olowolayemo.
