“There’s no evolution in his artistry” – Critics speaks on Wizkid’s new song, rates it 3/10

Daniel Regha highlighted his perceived shortcomings of Wizkid's latest track

Controversial social media commentator, Daniel Regha has shared his thoughts on Wizkid’s new song, Piece of My Heart featuring Brent Faiyaz.

Regha expressed disappointment, stating that the track feels reminiscent of Wizkid’s previous work, showing no significant evolution in his artistry or songwriting.

He pointed out that while the track has a calm vibe, it heavily leans into the Afrobeats genre—a notable irony, given that Wizkid previously distanced himself from being labeled as an Afrobeats artist a few months back.

Regha further criticized the composition, noting that the chorus contradicts the post-chorus, suggesting that it could have been better written.

He also highlighted the thematic repetition between part one and part two of the song, stating that they sound identical.

According to him, Wizkid seems to be coasting creatively, relying on fan support rather than pushing boundaries in his music. This complacency, Regha believes, has contributed to an evident decline in the artist’s creative output.

In his final assessment, Regha gave the song a rating of 3/10 for both parts, hoping that there will be better songs in Wizkid’s upcoming unreleased album.

In his words:

“Wizkid’s “Piece Of My Heart” ft. Brent Faiyaz gives the same vibe as his old work; While the track is calm, there’s no evolution in his artistry or song writing, & the track sounds much like afrobeats which is ironic since he claimed not to be an afrobeats artist earlier this year. Furthermore, the chorus contradicts with the post-chorus & could’ve been better written.

That said, Wizkid needs to write about other subjects cos part 1 & 2 of the track sounds the same. He isn’t pushing his pen cos he knows fans will hype/listen to anything he puts out regardless the quality, & this has led to his obvious creative decl!ne. Hopefully there are better songs in the unreleased album. It’s a 3/10 for both parts. No offense.”
