Afrobeat artist Seun Kuti has paid a heartfelt tribute to his late father, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, 27 years after his passing.

In an Instagram post, Seun Kuti reflected on the significant impact Fela continues to have on their lives.

He expressed his love and admiration for his father, stating that every aspect of his music is a testament to Fela’s influence.

He wrote:

Every year since you passed to the great beyond, your impact on our lives has continued to grow.

“Every note, every phrase, every dance, every song and every album is to show my love for you. “I miss you! I play my sax for you dad, I live for your legacy and I am loyal to the mission. Love you big man more than words can express.”

in a recent interview with Timi Agbaje, he expressed that becoming a father is his greatest achievement, highlighting the joy of raising his daughter.

Seun Kuti who has two daughters from two different mothers, acknowledged that he is not close to his first daughter due to a lack of connection with her mother.

He stated:

“The greatest thing I have ever achieved is becoming a father, having my daughter, being with her, and raising her.

“I have two kids but I’m not really close to my other daughter but to have the joy of that is the greatest achievement of my life for sure”.

When asked about the circumstances surrounding his relationship with his first daughter’s mother, Seun Kuti explained that it’s a complicated situation and no family is perfect.

He clarified that he wasn’t married when his first daughter was born and only had premarital sex twice before her birth.
